Kickoff Meeting
Thank you to all that participated in the trek kickoff - those that spoke, provided music, prepared refreshments, and attended. The weather held back and provided us with a delightful evening where we could feel the spirit of those that spoke and learn more about the purpose of trek. We each learned how we can spiritually prepare to make trek a great experience.
Sister Bousfield shares her 1994 experience on 'The Trek':
My experience on TREK was something I hold so dear to my heart; it is a beautiful experience I hope all youth can have. While every Trek is different and every experience is different, it's something that will live with you forever. You don't have to have ancestors who walked the trail, it is part of all our church heritage, it is what led the Saints to a place of safety so the Church could continue to grow without persecution and become what we are all a part of today. We all have pioneers in our family, those who joined the church first, those who left their home country to find refuge here, those who help pave the way for the Lord's work.
You will do something harder than you have done up to this point in your life. And often, when we are in the midst of hard things, that is when the spirit speaks to us. I know that our stake leaders are preparing something great for you and I know that it is what the Lord wants for you at this time. Take advantage of this opportunity to pioneer your testimonies! I know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each of you and have a plan for each of you to help you grow and become who we are meant to be.
